The Drummers Adventure After the six weeks in Tarrytown and a lot of fun with Cornelio drumming in the streets of New York, I went to East Hampton where I could stay at Mark Baechles home for a couple of days (who is a member of the Basel Drum Group “Ueli 1876”) before I would head to Indianapolis for my first Pasic. These days with Mark and his wife Charmaine were very comfortable and it was such a cool time with them. I haven’t expected it to be that good but I had a wonderful time there and Mark really… Read More »11/2022

EF Tarrytown It’s a thought-provoking time here in EF Tarrytown, New York. Because I have a lot of time by myself, this situation allows me to think clearly about all kind of different stuff happening right now. So that you can imagine where I have spent more than a month here I took some pictures of the campus. Our topics in class are often about current events happening on Earth. There are really enriching lessons with my teacher Carl who has a great spirit (actually he’s the best teacher I’ve ever had) and I like his attitude towards the discussion… Read More »10/2022

SIRD-Symposium The weekend of the SIRD-Symposium was brilliant. I met so many nice people from around the world and I’m really grateful that I could be part of the exchange between the different cultures. Exam as a drummer in the Swiss Military and last days in Basel The follwowing week, I had my test to become a drummer in the swiss military. I’ve just found out that I accomplished this goal and I’ll start my recruit school on the 16th January next year. I’m looking forward to making process in my quality of drumming. The last few days before my… Read More »09/2022

Matura thesis

  • Mo

Dear readers, my matura thesis includes a huge amount of work and research. Without my friends I would never have been able to realize this project. I want to thank these three exceptionally good drummers once again at the beginning for their commitment: Linus Wesp, Nicolas Wesp, Nicolas Gehrig and Olaf Wiedemann (videographer). A special thanks goes out to Christian Döbeli and Urs Gehrig aswell for their advice in the content and written part of my matura thesis. Before you continue reading, let’s take a look at the main product, the first composition of mine: “Highspeed”. My Matura thesis is… Read More »Matura thesis

Time to say goodbye

  • Mo

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has ended. It was probably the most coolest experience I’ve had in my life so far. The mixture between performing, connecting with people from the cast and exploring the city was perfect when I look back to these four weeks. My good friends from the Top Secret Drum Corps became my best friends. The Drum Corps developped to a potent team. We had a crazy-cool time. To drum with my friends which I already know from the Basler Fasnacht and elsewhere at the esplanade of the Edinburgh Castle was a blast! The team spirit of… Read More »Time to say goodbye

Enriching relationships

Our Performance Week two is already over and we’ve done more than a third of our gigs. It’s really satisfying to be able to give people such a pleasure. Hundreds of rehearsals, a lot of heart and sweat have gone into our preparation for the performance and we are rewarded for this with the terrific applause (including a lot of scene applause, which of course makes us happy) from the audience. It is an indescribable and probably also unique experience, which I may make here with the TSDC in Edinburgh. The duration of the tattoo is also not to be… Read More »Enriching relationships

Let’s get it started

Last rehearsals The first show is getting closer and closer, we are now only rehearsing whole runs and that all day long. I think everyone is looking forward when it finally starts. Then we’ll also have more spare time during the day, so we can get a closer look into Edinburgh as a city aswell. However, the performance mode is slowly settling in. On Tuesday we were at Edinburgh Castle and could watch the fantastic fireworks of the finale. Plus, we were rehearsing of course. On Wednesday, we were back at the barracks to play through two full runs in… Read More »Let’s get it started

Arrival in Edinburgh

  • Mo

Yesterday at 4:15 a.m. we met at the airport. Then we flew to Scotland where we were driven to our accommodation. After we checked into our rooms, we all ate breakfast. On my plate were beans, mushrooms, sausage, a potato patty and scrambled eggs. Afterwards, we went to the barracks for a first rehearsal. The first day in Edinburgh wouldn’t be the right if hadn’t drunk a beer, so we went in a pub and enjoyed our first few beers. In the evening we went to Edinburgh Castle, which is a historical monument and very important in Scotland. I had… Read More »Arrival in Edinburgh

A dream has come true

It was great. To be part of the 15th edition of the Basel Tattoo was very unique. Our very first performance at the premier show was quite good and on the second day we already had two shows plus the Tattoo parade that attracted many spectators. I enjoyed it a lot, it was awesome but I was also exhausted by it’s hard kickoff. The crowd loved our show. It was so crazy and fun to perform with my friends of the Top Secret Drum Corps for the first time in front of a huge crowd. We were really excited because… Read More »A dream has come true
